We offer the following 7 hour classroom courses:
Drivers Hours & Tachographs
Drivers' Hours rules are in place to keep drivers safe on the road. This course is designed to help drivers understand the complexities of Drivers' Hours, discussing rest periods, the WTD, record keeping and enforcement.
This course aims to clarify tachograph regulations, and provides drivers with step by step guidance of how to use some of the most important functions of a digital tachograph device. The course also explores manual entries, and faults and errors.
Vehicle Systems & Safe ECO Driving
This course helps drivers in their understanding of some of the key vehicle systems, exploring the tractor unit, challenging some negative beliefs about camera technology and telematics, and introduces the benefits of green systems.
Driving economically impacts both the environment, and financial costs to businesses. This course gives drivers an understanding of how to implement economic driving, focusing on driving style, torque and engine power, and fuel consumption.
Haulage Operations & Load Safety
This course highlights where a company's policies and procedures may differ - whilst still being legal - from that of the regulatory policies. The background behind an employer's O Licence and the support of the Transport Manager are also explored.
This course explores the principles behind load safety, aiming to improve drivers' application of procedures through an appreciation of the theory behind it. The course also covers load distribution, securing systems and load awareness.
Health & Safety & On The Road
Risk cannot always be avoided, but it can be minimised. This course provides practicable guidance on how to assess risks both on site and on the road, specifically addressing the risks involved in coupling and uncoupling, and loading bays and ramps.
This course addresses some of the most common issues drivers face on rural roads every day, and specifically explores driving in challenging weather conditions, route planning, speeding and minimising the risks to vulnerable road users.
Professional Driver & Emergencies
Professional drivers' roles and responsibilities are vast and extend beyond those needed whilst out on the road. This course aims to raise drivers' awareness of how their actions reflect on their professionalism and that of their operator's.
This course prepares drivers for emergencies and unforeseen events, providing guidance on emergencies such as, breakdowns, and vehicle fires. The course also covers preventative measures such as vehicle inspections, tyre safety and vehicle security.
In this video the DVSA explain how the Driver CPC functions and what you need to do as a driver to gain the Driver Qualification Card (DQC).
To find out if you are exempt from Driver CPC please click this link: DVSA CPC Exemptions Driver CPC does not include cars and light commercials, even when towing a trailer with a combined weight over 3500kg e.g. such as a 4x4 and plant trailer.
However it is required by drivers who drive for HIRE OR REWARD with trucks or buses over 3500kg or more than 8 seats.
The Government Department responsible for Driver CPC Training is the DVSA, who contract it to JAUPT - Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training. The training courses are inspected and approved by JAUPT, yearly course approval, unannounced inspections and a 5 year audit.
